Admission Criteria

Mount Carmel Supported Care Home is a non-nursing, low dependency supported care unit, which offers personal and social care to a maximum of 20 older people. Each new
resident needs to be of low dependency to avail of accommodation in Mount Carmel.

Pre-admission:

Residents are admitted following assessment by the person in charge and a team of social and health care professionals, where appropriate, to establish that the resident is
low dependency and capable of living autonomously in a low support environment. Admissions are planned.

Prior to admission a full medical and social history will be obtained from the GP of the prospective resident. The prospective resident and their family are welcome to visit the centre to meet the
manager and staff and the other residents if they wish prior to admission. Mount Carmel Supported Care Home does not accept emergency referrals.

As of May 5th 2021 Mount Carmel has implemented the revised guidelines for visiting Mount Carmel and the Guidelines for returning to the community. As part of the infection control measures and as part of the national guidelines we have to limit it to 4 visits per resident per week and the visit can consist of 2 people.. We would ask all visitors to complete and sign the Covid-19 visitor’s questionnaire prior to their visit. This questionnaire can be found at https://www.mountcarmelcallan.ie/covid-19-information/
